Help

Answers to what people ask before and after their first video.

Getting started

How long does it take?
About 2 minutes for the Pro edit of a short video. Max, the motion graphics pass, takes longer because you approve stills before it renders.
Do I have to set anything up?
No. Upload a video from your phone and you get a Pro edit. No accounts to connect, nothing to install or learn.
Can I use it from my phone?
Yes. Upload, pick a mode, change things by chat and download, all in your phone's browser. Nothing to install.
Does it work in my language?
Yes, any language. We tested Dutch and English.
Why not just use an AI chatbot with editing skills myself?
No setup, and it works from your phone. It is a tested product, not a prompt you maintain. It often costs about the same as an AI subscription, minus your time. We keep it working.
Why not a built-in AI animation tool?
Those tools animate text and charts. We edit your filmed video: cuts, best takes, captions, then motion on top. From your phone, from $19 a month.
Will it look generic?
See the raw clip next to the Pro edit in Examples. Max adds headlines, big words and labels that you can change, so the result is yours.
Free caption apps exist. Why pay?
Captions are not an edit. We cut silences and retakes, pick the best take, set the pacing and add the pro look: punch-ins, loudness, colour.

Making videos

What are Cut, Pro and Max?
Cut: The clean cut and captions. Pro: The pro edit: best takes, zooms, colour, polish. Max: Fully designed by AI. You approve the stills.
Can I fix what it gets wrong?
Yes. Type or speak what you want changed in chat, or change it by hand. Chat changes, quick fixes, undo and exports are free, in every mode.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Say "undo" in chat, or use undo in the editor. Undo is free, and the chat thread is still there after a reload.
Can I change the captions?
Yes. Turn them on or off, edit any line, or say what you want in chat, like smaller or lower. Captions stay clear of the apps' buttons.
What is "My words"?
A list of names and terms you want spelled your way, like a brand name. Add them on your Style page and the captions use them.
How do I get my video out?
Download it from the video page, straight to your phone. You can also export the edit as a timeline for Premiere or DaVinci. Exports are free.
Can I add my own song?
Yes, your own track: where it plays, which part, how loud, fades, and ducking under your voice. You can also join several clips into one video.

Max

What does Max add?
Headlines, big words, labels and sound effects on top of your Pro edit. Max is on paid plans. You approve stills first, then it renders.
How does the approval work?
Max shows stills of its plan. You approve them or change them in chat. Nothing renders until you approve, and a Max video counts once it is ready.
What are Max rounds?
A round is one plan of stills. The first 2 are inside Max's price. After that each round counts as shown before you start it, up to 6 on one video.
What if Max messes up?
You keep your Pro edit, and the Max video comes back. You also approve stills before it renders.

Plans and billing

What does it cost?
Free has no card: 1 free video a day, up to 10 a month, with a small mark. Paid plans are $19, $49 or $99 a month. Each comes with a monthly allowance you spend on Cut, Pro edit or Max videos in any mix; the plan cards show how many of each it makes. A video is a finished video up to 60 seconds; a longer one counts as one per started minute.
What do I get on the free plan?
1 free video a day, up to 10 a month, Cut or Pro edit, with a small FrameCutter mark. Max is on paid plans. One free account per person. Start free
What counts as a video?
A video is a finished video up to 60 seconds; a longer one counts as one per started minute. Chat changes, quick fixes, undo and exports count nothing.
What if I run out of videos?
Top-up for $9: Cut ~18 · Pro ~8 · Max ~4, subscribers only, valid 12 months. Or move to a bigger plan.
Is there a yearly plan?
Yes. Pay once a year and get 2 months free. The allowance still arrives month by month, on the same terms.
What's the founding price?
The first 100 subscriptions keep their price for as long as they stay subscribed. If you cancel, the price is gone.
Can I cancel?
Yes, on your plan page, one tap. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and you won't be charged again. Cancelling doesn't refund the current period.
Can I get a refund?
On request: email refund@framecutter.com and we reply within 5 working days. In the EU you can also withdraw within 14 days of buying and pay only for what you used. Details in the terms.

Your footage and privacy

What happens to my footage?
Originals are deleted after 14 days; a light copy stays for editing. Everything goes 30 days after a plan ends, or at once with "delete my data". EU company, stored in the EU.
How do I delete my data?
On the Account page: "Delete my data" removes your footage, videos and transcripts now and keeps your account and plan. "Delete account" cancels any subscription and removes everything.
Are my videos used to train AI?
No. We don't use your footage to train AI, and we don't sell your data. Our AI and transcription providers don't use your data to train their models. Privacy policy
Who sees my video?
We don't publish it or post for you. Our AI providers may get a few still frames to analyse a clip, never your full video files, your email address or your payment details.

Something's wrong

Where do I report a problem?
Use the problem button on the video, or the Feedback tab in the app. A problem report includes that version, so we see what you saw.
My video failed. Was I charged?
No. If something fails on our side, the video doesn't count, and anything it used is given back automatically.
How do I reach a person?
Email hello@framecutter.com. For privacy requests, use the address in the privacy policy.

Still stuck? Email hello@framecutter.com or use the Feedback tab in the app.
